12th February, 2011 brought a major milestone of achievement for
Artefact Projects Ltd. Honb’le Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh
inaugurated the new Trivandrum International Airport. Artefact in collaboration with
Rajiv and Moni Choudhary Architects, WS Atkins, AJM – Planning and Urban Design Group Sdn. Bhd.,
Malaysia have successfully provided for the Airport Concept, Design, Engineering, Project Management
and Consultancy Services since its inception in 2005, upto commissioning. The services included concept
designs, architectural planning, interior design, structural designs, HAVC, mechanical and electrical facilities,
security systems, communications, STP, ETP, electric sub-station, approach bridge and roadways,
landscaping, environment management, cost and quality control and project supervision and management.

Complementing the Terminal Honb’le Prime Minister remarked :
“I compliment the Airports Authority of India for the commitment with which they
have been building such impressive infrastructure in our airports.”
The Airport, built with most modern global standards, design, construction
and practices, is at par with the best Airports in the world.
With construction cost of Rs. 289 crores, it is a tubular three-storied fully air-conditioned building with a
floor area of 20,000 sq meters, 30 check-in counters, 18 immigration counters, 18 Customs counters, 3
security checking units and 4 conveyor belts, a Common Users Terminal Equipment (CUTE), provision
of Wi-Fi connectivity. The terminal can handle 1600 passengers, with 8 aircraft parking bays, 8
aerobridges, 600 cars parking, the ability to handle two A-300s and one Boeing 747 aircraft at a time.
The Airport is considered one of the best in the country and third best in structural designs and at par
with some of the world’s most prestigious airports. Artefact acknowledging the valuable contribution of
its foreign collaborators, considers a proper team work and highly professional focus for the project to
be able to deliver the best professional and international skills required for the airport.
Trivandrum International Airport has direct flights to cities like Kuwait, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur,
Singapore, Male, Colombo, Sharjah, Muscat, Bahrain, Doha, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi.
